Our last stop in Ethiopia was sharing this Lego project with the teachers, therapists and social workers who work with the kids at Selamta Family Project. This organization selects constellation groups of kids from the most needy government orphanages in Addis Ababa and brings them together - with mothers and aunties - to create forever families. Theyr'e way more than a group home - these families stay together for life, not until the kids age out.
These adults had never used Lego before and it was interesting to see how they were much more nervous about making something "right" or "good" than the kids! They also served us lunch!
I really appreciate them inviting me to share my project with them, which they will share with the kids in their program.
This will be my last post for a while... then I'll be back in the US for the next phase!
